Newton: Susan Jackson’s Final Column

Twenty years ago, I walked into the Harvey County Extension Office with hope, excitement and butterflies in my stomach.  It was a new experience with opportunities waiting.  It was the job I had hoped and dreamed about.  Now in 2016, it is difficult to believe that I am ready to retire at the end of February.  A big change is ahead after 26 years employed by Extension (6 in Miami County and 20+ in Harvey County).

It has been a great journey.  I have met wonderful youth and adults.  The support I have received from the community, committees, agencies, FCS Program Development Committees, Master Food Volunteers, S.H.I.C.K Volunteers, Fair Superintendents and 4-H Leaders has been outstanding.  The Harvey County Agents, Office Professionals and Harvey County Extension Executive Board have been very helpful.  The work of the Family and Consumer Sciences Program has benefited from this support.  I am very grateful for it.

My one request is that you treat the new Family and Consumer Sciences Agent with the same helpful and respectful attitude that you have treated me.  I thank you for that.
